PROBLEM STATEMENT
Create a carrier which makes drawing and painting supplies readily and quickly available to the artist working in the field.

PRIMARY NEEDS:
  The carrier holds all I need.
  The carrier is comfortable to use.
  The carrier protects my stuff.
  The carrier makes supplies accessible.
  The carrier looks good.
  The carrier is a portable office.
  The carrier is basic in its function.

 My solution concept is the "File Bag" style. ( J. in the 10 concepts list in Week 3.)  I have decided to pursue this single concept because it has features which seem to match up with all the user needs, and I am interested particularly in trying out  the "desk" or work surface feature. Below is the latest iteration:

                                    THE "SKETCH-ALL" ARTIST'S BAG

      * The slim 1" - 2" profile of the bag makes for ease of wearing and carrying.
        * The bag opens quickly.
       * A dozen pockets are for supplies, plus holders for pens, pencils, brushes.
       * 10" x 13" pocket is for 9" x 12" watercolor block and notebooks.
       * Front folds down and straps support a stable work surface.
       * Panel slides out for extra work surface.
       * Front pocket for seat pad.
       * Cross-body adjustable strap for hands-free working.

POLL OF  POTENTIAL USERS
Part of the work for the design course is to have students try to measure the interest of potential users in the solutions that were found for the initial problem.  I contacted a number of friends by email and described the course and my project to them, and asked whether they you could use something like the "Sketch-all" carrier. There have not been many results so far, but I'm sure more will come in.
Visitors to this page are welcome to help me out with this task right here. I have come up with a simple question about my "artifact." If you care to participate, I thank you for answering the poll below:
Here is the end of this week's assignment.
